Mommabear’s Make Ahead Layer Salad

Growing up, this was always a classic at our house; crunchy iceberg lettuce, bacon, cheese, peas and a secret dressing that sounds bizarre but has been making surprised believers out of salad eaters for years…



Fill a bowl with lettuce (we did Romain and Iceberg with a bit of Spinach), reserving enough to cover the top…

  • 1/2 chopped onion
  • 2 chopped Hardboiled Eggs
  • 4 chopped slices of Bacon
  • 1 cup thawed frozen Peas
  • Grated Cheddar Cheese


Topping (just trust us on this):
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise (it’s just eggs, oil & vinegar)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar


Mix, spread over top of salad. Put last layer of lettuce on the mayo topping. Refrigerate for 24 hours.
Toss and serve!
