Summer Coffee Drinks & Protein Milkshakes

Get your inocu-frappe for the summer heat!

Tips:
*Use Cold Brew Coffee (no bitter flavor): Fill a pitcher with water & coffee: ratio 1 cup coffee to 4.5 cups water. Stir to mix and put in the fridge overnight. In the morning, strain through a coffee filter or fine sieve.
*Pour leftover coffee from your morning pot into ice cube trays (or baggies) and save for making these blended frozen coffee Frappes or Iced Coffees….

 

 


Measurements are approximate as everyone has their own blend and strength preferences for coffee…

Iced Coffee

 

  • Ice
  • Cold brew coffee (or cooled regular coffee)
  • Flavored Syrup (like Torani) or Simple Syrup* below
  • Milk OR Fat Free Sweetened Condensed Milk
Put ice in glass, pour chilled coffee over. 
Add 1 tablespoon flavored coffee syrup or simple syrup, add milk to taste.                     
Add Sweetened Condensed Milk to taste.





Frappe

Frozen Blended Coffee Drink like a morning milkshake : )

  • 3 cups ice (preferably coffee ice-cubes)
  • 2 cup cold and strong brewed coffee or espresso
  • 1-2 tablespoons flavored syrup OR regular Sugar OR Simple Syrup* below
  • 1/2 cup milk (or more to taste)
  • Additions: Cocoa powder, Vanilla Extract, Protein Powder, Cinnamon

Blend away!


Simple Syrup
1 part sugar to 1 part water
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Water
Combine in saucepan, bring to a boil, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Cool completely.

 


Handy’s Favorite Protein Shake

For those of you wondering what I’m always drinking in my large blue tumbler : )
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • huge scoop ice
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop protein powder (we like Optimum Nutrition’s Double Rich Chocolate…but we will probably switch when this tub’s out b/c it has artificial sweeteners, boo!)

Blend!                                                                                                                           

                            Mocha Protein Shake
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 shot of espresso or teaspoon instant coffee/espresso granules
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup 0% Greek Yogurt
  • sugar to taste (if needed)

You know the drill!




 Or, skip the chocolate and espresso and throw in some frozen mango…viola!
